How to read a scenario
[ skill / characteric ] : the skill or characteritic to use for the action
Public Information: this is information that does not require dice rolls to obtain. The information is given by the GM to the first player who refers to it and inquires.
[Secret Information! This information must NEVER be given to players. It is used to explain the situation to the GM].
Atmosphere: this is a part of the scenario of no interest to the story, but its purpose is to set the mood, create tension etc...
Dice rolls: the rolls are made by default by the players, except when the scenario explicitly states "GM rolls". In this latter case, the roll is made by the GM, behind the screen, out of sight of the players. When players seek information from NPCs, the roll is indicated [ information roll ]. In this only case, whether the roll succeeds or fails, the players never know for sure whether the information they obtain is true or false... Only the GM knows, through the [ true ] or [ false ] indication that is systematically given. In all other cases, if the roll is successful, the players are sure of the information.
All-player roll: the roll can be made by all players.
Multiple rolls: these rolls are linked to successive pieces of information. If the player succeeds with the first piece of information, he can roll again for the second, and so on. As soon as a player fails one of these rolls, he can no longer continue with the other rolls. Throws are systematically made in the order of the information.
Choice throw: a throw that allows two possibilities; the player chooses the throw he wishes.
For example, if you can roll a D20 under "intelligence" or a D100 under "knowing Americans", you choose the roll that suits you best.
Example : you have to read a poster
[ read/write ] [ player roll ] : it means that YOU will roll a D100 under the skill read/write.
Let's suppose you have 65% in read/write. If the roll is successfull (that is under 65%) you can read the poster.
Extract 1
...
At the entrance to the town's saloon, on the main street, an obviously recent poster has been put up. It's highly visible.
The GM will draw lots among the characters to decide who notices it first.
[ read/write ] [ player roll ; The GM reads of the three following texts, depending on the result of the dice roll.]
Successful throw: "Seeking cowboys to convoy wagons for Army north of Laramie Mountains. $70 per person. Report promptly to Burt Honell's ranch."
Failed throw: "Leeding cowboys to convoy wages by Army North Lamarie Campain. $70 per person. Reporter promptness at Bort Honey ranch."
Critical miss: ""Seeding boys to convict lagoons buy Army North last of Laranie Tampain. $70 peer person. Present strongly Bartt Honey range."
Public information: a cowboy earns ~ $30 a month, which means this job pays very well indeed.
To find out exactly where the Laramy Mountains are, every character may roll under "knowing Americans" with a 30% malus or under "knowing Indians" without malus (at character's choice).

Extract 2
...
This bounty hunter often hangs out at the saloon, and every time players pass by, they have 50% of a chance of meeting him. He's discreet, soft-spoken and doesn't drink much. If players are interested in him
[ getting to know Americans ] or [ EXPERIENCE * 3 ] [ players roll ]
Successful roll: you can tell he's an experienced man
Successful critical roll: he's probably a bounty hunter, even if you can't really tell.

If the players talk to Heck, he'll be reserved but not unpleasant. He'll tell them in conversation that he's from Santa-Fé but that he's originally from the area (no rolls necessary). Heck obviously knows about the poster, and if the players tell him they've been hired by Honell, he can tell them:
[ discuss/convaince] [ MJ roll ]
Successful roll: not available in this extract ....
Heck offers to accompany the players to Fort Laramy. "I've got some business there," he says. You can decide to meet up just outside town.
